May gardening chores • Pace yourself in the garden and choose a task to complete before moving on to the next job. Don’t get overwhelmed. • Coddle your plants during this month, irrigating deeply and keeping weeds at bay. This allows them to develop deep root systems and healthy growth habits, which pays off later in the season when heat and humidity are more challenging. • Create new garden beds before it gets too hot. Be sure to fill the beds with as much organic material as you can. • Once azaleas have finished blooming, prune them to a more manageable size. For more information, see Georgia Gardens. |
