Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks, a play by American playwright Richard Alfieri, has two characters: Lily, the formidable widow of a Baptist minister, and Michael, an acerbic dance instructor hired to give her lessons. Lily lives alone on Florida's gulf coast. Her tutor, Michael, had to leave his life as a chorus boy on Broadway, taking work as a dance instructor.
As the play opens, Lilly is waiting for her first of six weekly in-home dance lessons. She is Michael's first client, and their first lesson does not go well. Each lies to the other about their lives. Their relationship is antagonistic at first, but as the lessons continue, a close friendship develops. They begin to enjoy time together outside of their lessons, sharing their deepest secrets and gifts.
The play runs for three weekends from April 26 thru May 12 (Friday and Saturday shows, 7:30 p.m. Sunday shows, 2 p.m.).
Tickets available online at taterpatchplayers.org or at the theater one hour before the show begins.
